§1 Who you are buying from
The End of Life Planner is sold by Joel Patterson, a sole trader in London, England trading as Standard Index Group and as Valoren. In these terms, "we" means that business.
Business address: 128 Blindmans Lane, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross EN8 9DN, England
Email: support@theendoflifeplanner.com
Phone: +44 20 3996 2682 (a number in England; a message left there reaches us by email)
We have no office, employee or agent in the United States. Valoren is a publisher in London, England, not a law firm.
§2 What you buy
One End of Life Planner, United States edition, for the state you choose at checkout.
It comes as three PDF files, emailed to the address you give. Two are the planner: one laid out to print on Letter paper, and one with fields you can type into on a computer before you print. Both hold the same pages: records sheets, a dated national list of who to tell after a death and how each organization says it wants to hear, a description of the kinds of property that usually pass outside a will, eleven blank notification letters, the sheet for the state you chose, and two cut-out cards. Every fact in it is printed as the official body that publishes it stated it, with the date we read it.
The third file is "What Happens Next", a companion guide to the moments after a death, in the order they arrive. It is the same for every buyer, it is general information with every fact dated, and it is part of what you buy at no extra cost.
The planner is the same for every buyer in a state. The only things of yours printed in it are the household name you give at checkout, which appears on the cover and at the head of each section with the name of your state, and the month of your order, on the cover. Everything else you fill in yourself, by hand or on screen, and nothing you write in it reaches us.
§3 What it is not
The planner is general information and your own record. It is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney, and nobody has looked at your situation. It decides nothing for your household: not who inherits, not whether probate is needed, not whether a will or a power of attorney does what you hope. It prepares no document in your name, chooses no form and no court route, and applies no law to your facts: every letter in it is blank until you fill it in, and the state sheet describes what that state's own offices publish, for every reader alike. Facts change; each one carries the date we checked it.
The planner's first page, and the checkout page directly above the pay button, carry this sentence:
This document is general information and a form. It is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney.
An attorney in your state can tell you whether this fits your situation. The planner's state sheet says where that state's bar lists a lawyer referral service.
The order form asks for no medical information, and the planner has no place for any. Please do not type medical details into the household name.
§4 Price and payment
The price is US$39, paid once by card through Stripe. There is no subscription, no renewal, nothing to add and no price it "was".
US$39 is the whole price. If a state ever requires us to collect sales tax on this sale, it is shown separately at checkout as a government tax, before you pay, and never folded into the price.
§5 Who can buy
We sell the planner to buyers in the states where this edition has been released, listed on the product page. An order for any other state is refused before payment, and the same check runs again before a planner is prepared. If a payment were ever taken for a state we do not cover, we refund it in full.
§6 Delivery
Your planner is prepared and emailed within minutes of payment. If anything stops it being prepared, it is held and a person looks at it, and you hear from us by email; nothing is sent incomplete. If it has not arrived within an hour, check your spam folder, then email us.
Nothing is posted or shipped: the planner is a PDF, and you print it yourself.
§7 Your rights by law
You have rights under the consumer protection law of your state and under federal law. Nothing in these terms takes away or limits those rights. Where these terms promise more than the law requires, the promise applies as well, not instead.
§8 Our 30-day money-back promise
This promise is given by Joel Patterson, trading as Standard Index Group and Valoren, of 128 Blindmans Lane, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross EN8 9DN, England, phone +44 20 3996 2682, email support@theendoflifeplanner.com.
What we promise.
If, within 30 days of the day your planner is emailed to you, you tell us that it is not right or that you do not want it, we refund the US$39 in full to the card you paid with. No reason is needed. If something in the planner is wrong, we would rather put it right first: say which you want.
What you do.
Email us from the address your planner was sent to, or quote that address, within the 30 days. Or write to the business address above. Say "refund", or say what is wrong.
What happens next.
We confirm by email and start the refund to your card within 5 business days. Your card issuer then takes its own time to show it; that part is outside our hands, so we do not promise a date for it.
How long it lasts.
30 days from the day the planner is emailed.
What it costs you.
Nothing. If you spend anything to make a claim, tell us in the same email or letter and we repay it.
Your other rights.
The benefits this promise gives you are in addition to other rights and remedies you have under the law in relation to the planner. It never replaces or shortens them.
§9 After you buy
The planner you receive is the one prepared on the day, and we do not replace it with different content afterwards. If you ask us to send it again within 12 months, it is prepared again from the details you gave at checkout, with the general information current on the day it is sent again; its cover keeps the month of your original order.
§10 Your information
We keep what you typed into the order form (your state, the household name and your email address) for 12 months after delivery so the planner can be sent again if you ask, then delete it from our store. You can ask us to keep it longer, or delete it sooner using the link in your delivery email. Details of an order that was never paid for are deleted after 30 days. What we collect, who handles it and where, how long each provider keeps it, and how to delete it, is in the privacy notice on this site.
We send no marketing email unless you ticked the separate box for it at checkout, and you can stop it at any time.
§11 If something goes wrong
Email us first; most things are put right by return. If we cannot sort it out, you can contact the consumer protection office of your state's attorney general, or report the matter to the Federal Trade Commission.
§12 Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for future sales. The terms that apply to your purchase are the ones dated at the top of this page and shown when you bought. Every version stays published, unchanged, at its own dated address, listed at the foot of this page, and your order records the version you accepted.
